Jujitsu is comprised of many, many different types of throw. The point behind them is to use your opponents weight and momentum against them in order to control them to the ground. Sometimes the throws are powerful enough that the opponent isn’t going to get up again afterwards and a safe exit can be made.

The throws can be classified into several types such as hip-throws (throw your opponent over the hip), shoulder-throws (throw them over your shoulder), sacrifice-throws (you both end up vulnerable on the ground), rear-throws (throw them behind you) as well as wide range of throws that fit into several or none of these categories.
